Other lesser-known dishes should also be part of your daily diet, such as pintxos, a multi-flavoured sandwich; pan con tomate, a remarkably simple tomato bread with an incredible flavour; and coca, a cake that can be savoury (with onions or meat) or sweet (with candied fruit).
Local culture
During your stay, you won’t want to miss out on discovering Barcelona’s culture. There is, of course, the history and art on display in the various museums and monuments. But there’s also popular culture. You’ll discover the specificities of Catalan culture, with its characteristic language and its castles of men (or castells) who compete in wild competitions. These take place mainly in June in the squares of Sant Jaune, or Catalunya.
