Are you torn between the sea and nature? Porquerolles is the island for you! Rich in coastal paths, pine forests and vineyards, as well as history and art, Porquerolles caters for keen walkers and casual strollers alike. Wherever you go, you’ll be greeted by breathtaking views of the sea and greenery as far as the eye can see. Arthaud Yachting is delighted to accompany you on a total immersion cruise on a rental yacht on the island of Porquerolles!
Breathtaking seascapes to enjoy during your cruise
When you arrive on the island of Porquerolles on a charter yacht, you’ll see the island’s lighthouse, built in 1830 and standing 84 metres above sea level. Discovering the island of Porquerolles on a rental yacht is also an opportunity to anchor in the bay of Langoustier, 100 metres from its magnificent beaches. Situated at the western tip of the island, this bay guarantees wild and magnificent scenery. White sand to the north or dark red to the south? You can choose between two sumptuous beaches, just a few metres from your yacht. If you’re mooring for a whole day in Porquerolles, the island’s largest beach awaits you. Plage Notre-Dame, a 30-minute walk from the village, is renowned for its clear, turquoise waters. Equip yourself with a mask and snorkel to explore the seabed: soles and red mullets are right under your feet! In the same vein, Cap des Médès is the ideal place to take a walk along the water’s edge and try your hand at scuba diving. The more accessible Courtade beach also offers magnificent views.
A dive in the heart of nature, between pine forests and vineyards
As well as breathtaking seascapes, there are 51km of signposted footpaths on the island. So you can discover exceptional flora and fauna, right in the heart of nature! If you’re a keen walker, there are plenty of routes within easy walking distance for discovering the island’s rich and varied vegetation. The forests are home to many different species of trees, but pine trees are king, just like on the Mediterranean coast. For cycling enthusiasts, there are four magnificent circuits signposted on cycle paths: you can choose between the Midi circuit, the Mistral circuit, the Levant circuit and the Sunset circuit! Thanks to the many hire companies on site, you can enjoy long rides adapted to your level.
For those less sporty types in search of a little serenity, visit the Emmanuel Lopez gardens, just a stone’s throw from the centre of the village and next to the National Park. These magnificent gardens cover an area of one hectare and are home to dozens of plant species adapted to the Mediterranean climate, including more than 25 different species of palm. For wine lovers, the Courtade and Ile estates offer tours and wine tastings for a privileged immersion in the heart of the Porquerolles vineyards.
A little art and history before getting back on board
As well as its sumptuous landscapes, the island of Porquerolles is also steeped in history and has a strong contemporary art scene. Discover the Moulin du Bonheur and Fort Saint-Agathe. After 200 years of inactivity, the mill was brought back to life in 2007 thanks to an initiative by an association. Rebuilt exactly as it was before, you can admire its 6-metre height and diameter and immerse yourself in the history of the island. Built in Roman times, the fort now houses a terrace offering an exceptional panoramic view! Listed as a Historic Monument in 2019, the church of Saint-Anne is open to the public all year round. The Villa Carmignac will also take you on a journey. Its 15-hectare sculpture garden and 2,000 m² of temporary exhibition space are at the heart of the island, allowing you to wander through an artistic space designed in harmony with the surrounding nature. Numerous creative workshops are organised here during the summer months, so don’t forget to book!
